Asscher Cut
Developed in 2001, the Royal Asscher Cut is, hands down, a breathtaking diamond cut. With regard to its history, this Royal Asscher Cut is actually a modified version of the antique Asscher cut that was created at the beginning of the twentieth century. The antique Asscher cut, which was originally designed to improve upon the Emerald Cut, reached its height of popularity in 1920s due to its “Art Deco” qualities.
With regard to looks, the Royal Asscher Cut is amazingly beautiful, and pictures alone do not do this dazzling cut justice. With 74 facets in total, this octagon shaped cut, has a grand total of 16 more facets than both the antique Asscher Cut and the Emerald Cut. As such, the Royal Asscher reflects light brilliantly from every possible angle imaginable.
In fact, the Asscher Cut is so spectacular that Julia Roberts adorned 10 ct. tw. Asscher Cut diamond earrings to the Oscars. Also, Queen Elizabeth II from Great Britain, Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard from the Netherlands, King Constantine and Queen Annemarie from Greece, and Emperor Hirohito and Emperor Akihito from Japan were all Asscher clientele.
