April’s Birthstone: Diamonds
The prized diamond stones have been the traditional symbol of love since the times of ancient Greece. Other groups of people believed that a diamond held before a guilty person would darken, while a diamond held before an innocent person would shimmer.
Still other people believed that these diamonds were actually either pieces of stars, crystallized lightening or even hardened rain or dewdrops.
Diamonds are commonly associated with being a colorless yet strikingly brilliant stone. However, diamonds also can come in a variety of colors. Some of these highly revered colored diamonds include the blue, canary yellow green, red, pink, and amber colors.
The typical diamond with a brilliant cut has 58 facets in total. There are 33 facets on the crown or top of the diamond, and 25 factes on the pavilion or bottom of the diamond.
(Yes, it is true, Diamonds are a girl's best friend!)
