January’s Birthstone: Garnet
Garnet is January’s traditional birthstone. When you think of garnet, it probably conjures up images of a jewel with rich dark red tones.
However, garnets surprisingly come in a wide array of colors that includes brilliant oranges and greens. In fact, the Czars of Russia favored green garnet in years gone by. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks also wore garnets alike.
Today, garnets are prized for their innate beauty and their pocket-book friendly price range as well. Natural garnet can be found in Africa, Brazil, India, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
