Amazon.Com Jewelry Quality

Amazon.com only conducts business with reputable jewelry suppliers, but as a quality control measure, Amazon.com employees do inspect each piece of jewelry in the Amazon.Com collection, to ensure that the jewelry passes the company’s strict quality measures.

Specifically, each jewelry piece is inspected to determine if the size, quality, weight, durability, design, and finish do measure up to the claims of the suppliers. Colored gemstones are inspected to ensure that they have excellent tone, hue, and color saturation.

Pearls that are chosen for jewelry pieces always have high to medium luster and slight to medium blemishes. These pearls then matched and strung on a double-knotted cord with durable clasps to ensure that consumer’s will be happy with the finished product.

Most of the diamonds come with diamond certificates, and are graded at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) (Browse Amazon's GIA certified jewelry), the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL), or the International Gemological Institute of America (IGI). Amazon.com gemologists then test the gems to ensure that the diamonds were graded correctly.

In addition, Amazon.com refuses to buy diamonds that come from so-called “conflict countries” or organizations with criminal or terrorist links.

With regard to precious metals, Amazon.com only uses the purest of metals in its jewelry and marks the purity, clearly in the product description. The platinum, for example, is ninety to ninety-five percent pure platinum or 900 or 950 platinum. Also, the website offers a great selection of 14K and 18K gold.
As a quality control measure, Amazon.com does submit gold jewelry items to third party laboratories to test the gold content and weight of these items. Lastly, only 0.925 sterling silver is used in all silver jewelry items that are sold on the website in the Amazon.Com collection.
